GDCT honours Er Khatana on nomination to RS

JAMMU, Sept 18: Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust (GDCT) — a non-governmental organization and a voice of three millions Gujjars-Bakerwals working for the upliftment of tribals of J&K educationally, economically, socially and culturally honored Er Ghulam Ali Khatana, Member Rajya Sabha (RS), in an impressive function held in its office, here today.
Members of the Trust, leaders of various political parties belonging to Gujjar-Bakerwal community and other members of civil society participated in the function. Arshad Ali Choudhary (Trust member and executive member of BJP), while presenting welcome address, expressed gratitude to President of India, Prime Minister of India and the Home Minister for nominating Er Khatana as Rajya Sabha Member.
Patron-in-Chief of Trust, Abdul Hamid Choudhary and Advocate Shah Mohd Chowdhary (chairman of the Trust) were also present on the occasion. Abdul Hamid Choudhary, while speaking on the occasion, acknowledged the contributions made by Khatana towards the Gujjar-Bakerwal community and other people of J&K. He hoped that Khatana will work hard for the upliftment of the downtrodden community of Gujjar & Bakerwal in particular and citizens of J&K in general.
In his address, Shah Mohd Chowdhary, said that Er Khatana had been a hard worker and a visionary who had been working for the community for the last many years. He hoped that Khatana will raise the voice of people of J&K and the issues confronting the Scheduled Tribe community of J&K Gujjar-Bakerwals in the Rajya Sabha.
Khatana, while addressing the gathering, said that he will work for the people of J&K and the tribals of J&K particular. He lauded the role of Gujjar community in defending the borders of the Nation and assured that he will do Justice with all people of J&K and Gujjar-Bakerwal community in particular.
Mushtaq Ahmed Khatana also spoke on the occasion. M S Chouhan (general secretary of Trust) conducted the proceedings of the function while Bashir Ahmed Noon (member of the Trust) presented the vote of thanks.
