KATHUA, Dec 13: Government Degree College (GDC) for Women, Kathua today organised a one-day national conference on “Integrating AI into Curriculum: NEP 2020’s Vision for Future Skills”, highlighting the importance of Artificial Intelligence in reshaping higher education as envisioned under the National Education Policy 2020.
The programme started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed by Saraswati Vandana by students.
Principal of the college Dr Savi Behl welcomed the guests and said that AI has the potential to transform teaching, learning and assessment methods.
She added that NEP 2020 lays strong emphasis on innovation, creativity and skill-based education to make students future-ready.
Chief Guest on the occasion, MLA Kathua Dr Bharat Bhushan described the theme of the conference as timely and relevant, stating that educational institutions must take the lead in preparing students for emerging technologies.
Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma, who attended as Guest of Honour, stressed the need for collaboration between academic institutions and the administration to promote modern and inclusive education.
During the inaugural session, the Abstract Book containing 85 research papers and the college newsletter IRAVATI (Volume Six) were released.
The keynote address was delivered by Prof J N Baliya of the Central University of Jammu, who spoke on the role of AI in curriculum planning and the need to strengthen digital skills among teachers and students.
The technical sessions featured lectures by Prof (Dr) Nitin Kumar Puri, Executive Director, NIELIT Ranchi, and Dr Saurabh Shastri from the University of Jammu.
A total of 151 research papers were presented by participants from across the country in both offline and online modes.
The valedictory function was addressed by Additional Secretary, J&K Science and Technology Department, Dr Neelam Khajuria, who appreciated the college’s efforts in promoting academic excellence and innovation.
