GDC Udhampur donates over Rs 2 lakh for flood victims

JAMMU, Oct 17: As a part of its Institutional Social Responsibility, students and staff of Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur made donations worth Rs 2,35,304 to help the victims of recent floods and natural calamity.
The students of the College volunteered to donate Rs 35,000 from their own pockets. NCC cadets and NSS Volunteers also collected Rs 20,000 as donation from the members of the civil society.
The teaching and non-teaching staff of the College donated two-day salary for this cause that amounted to Rs 1,80,304 out of which an amount of Rs 94,304 was deposited in CM Relief Fund and Rs 51,000 was deposited in Flood Relief Account No of J&K Bank, Zal Dagar Branch, Srinagar.
In addition to this, 100 sets of quilts and mattresses were distributed among the floods victims of Nainsoo, Birwan Pul, Muttal, Sui, Laddan and Pancheri areas of district Udhampur by Principal Prof SS Bhalwal, Dr Udhey Bhanu, Prof Suresh Kumar Dogra, Prof Kamal Kishore and students.
