GDC Kunjwani hosts ‘YUVA-UDYAM 2026’ with IIM Jammu

JAMMU, Jan 30: Taking a pioneering step towards strengthening innovation-led education, the Institution Innovation Council (IIC), Government Degree College Kunjwani/Sainik Colony, Jammu, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, organized an inter-college innovation and entrepreneurship event titled “YUVA-UDYAM 2026: From Ideas to Impact.”
Notably, GDC Kunjwani/Sainik Colony, Jammu emerged as the host institution, spearheading the formation of a six-college innovation cluster. This collaborative academic initiative brought together faculty members and students from GDC Samba, GDC Bishnah, GDC R S Pura, GDC Vijaypur, and GDC Purmandal, marking a significant milestone in inter-collegiate cooperation for fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of over 250 students along with faculty members from the host college as well as the cluster colleges.
The programme was graced by Dr Vivek Sharma, Chief Innovation Officer (CIO), IIM Jammu, as the chief guest. In his address, Dr Sharma inspired students to actively engage with the startup ecosystem and lauded GDC Kunjwani/Sainik Colony, Jammu for its visionary leadership in creating a structured innovation cluster that provides students and faculty with exposure, mentoring, and real-world entrepreneurial pathways.
In her keynote address, Principal of GDC Kunjwani/Sainik Colony, Jammu emphasized the crucial role of innovation, startups, and youth-led initiatives in nation-building and appreciated the collective participation of faculty coordinators and students from all cluster colleges for making the event impactful.
Expert sessions by Kannav Padha and Dhruvi Sharma from DST–iTBI, IIM Jammu provided a comprehensive walkthrough of the Mission YUVA portal, guiding students on application procedures and grant opportunities for funding innovative ideas. The event concluded with an interactive group discussion.
Proceedings of the programme were conducted by Sharika Bhat. The event commenced with a formal welcome address by Dr Bhavana Sharma while vote of thanks was presented by Prof Risha Kumari.
