GCW Parade organises programme on ‘World Heart Day’

JAMMU, Sept 27: On ‘World Heart Day’, a two day programme was organised by the Centre for Women’s Studies (CWS), Government College for Women, Parade under the supervision of the College Principal, Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo.
The programme was co-ordinated by Convener CWS, Dr. Semma Malpotra.
On day one, poster making competition on the theme ‘Don’t Miss a Beat’ was organised and 28 participants from all the semesters participated in it and out of these Huma Mukhtar, Harika Raj Nagrotra and Janhvi Raina bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively.
The whole event was adjudged by Dr. Rajesh Kant (HoD Chemistry), Dr. Sanjeet Kour (HoD Zoology) and Dr. Vinus Sharma (HoD Computer).
On day two, awareness talk was organised and Dr. Veenu Kaul, Associate Director and Cardiologist from Medanta Heart Institute, Gurugram was the resource person.
Dr. Kaul highlighted the importance of recognizing unique symptoms of heart diseases and suggested a personalized approach to prevention, especially for those with high cholesterol, high blood pressure etc.
In the end all the participants were awarded with certificates.
Principal of the College appreciated the Convener Dr. Seema Malpotra and the other committee members Dr. Shally Chadha, Dr. Ramesh Chander, Dr. Komal Bangotra and Dr. Arti Devi for organising such informative lectures.
Dr. Sushma Chib, Dr. Nitu Sharma, Dr. Tazim and Dr. Amar were also present on the occasion and the programme was compeered by Dr. Iesha Sharma.
