GCS demands proper land compensation

JAMMU, Oct 4: A meeting of Grameen Civil Society (GCS) was held here today under the chairmanship of Ram Pal Seth, GCS Chairman and Shakti Dutt Sharma, president.
The meeting discussed the issue of land and property compensation which is being acquired for road widening.
Suraj Padha, Municipal Councillor, large number of locals and businessmen attended the meeting and said that they are losing houses and shops where they were working and living for years.
“We are not against the project but we demand a fair compensation,” they said adding that the authorities concerned should adopt impartial approach in making estimate of land compensation.
Ram Pal Seth assured the aggrieved people to take the issue with concerned authorities for redressal.
Shakti Dutt urged the Governor to personally intervene into the matter and direct the concerned authorities to do fair and transparent estimation of the land etc.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Varun Padha, Vice President GCS said, if proper land compensation is not given then they will stage protest demonstrations.
Sanjay Sharma, GCS Member also expressed similar concern.
