GCET organizes online career counselling session

JAMMU, Mar 6: The Training and Placement Cell, Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), Jammu, organized a career counselling session on “Education Which Makes You Financially Independent” in collaboration with Devsnest, a Non Profit Organization.
The session aims to create highly skilled individuals by bridging the skill gap between academic curriculum and industry requirements. This shall help kick start their careers with good tech industry jobs and providing guidance and personalized mentorship to the students to improve their technical profiles and will also be helping them with interview preparation and placements. The session was attended by around 150 participants comprising of students of various Engineering Institutes, Degree colleges and organizations across the country.
The programme was enriched by the vast knowledge and experience of speaker Kshitiz Miglana. He gave an insight on holistic development of student learning about new things, effective courses that will affect their careers, building skill sets, intelligence and Linkedin profile, participation in hackathon, coding competitions etc.
He also threw light on how to identify the factors currently influencing the career development, how to assess abilities, values, and interests, Locating resources of career information, updating knowledge regularly. Further he emphasized that curiosity among the students helps them to become good technocrats.
The session was very interactive and helped the young minds to strengthen their professional motives.
Dr Sameru Sharma, Principal, GCET Jammu called for organizing more such programmes in future for increasing the employability skills of the students.
