JAMMU, July 6: In a bid to promote awareness about organic food and sustainable farming practices, Gaurav Tyagi, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, has embarked on a nationwide campaign titled ‘Bharat Ann Shuddhi Padyatra’, a 4,000 km foot march from Srinagar to Kanyakumari.
The padyatra, which began on June 26 from Srinagar, aims to educate people about the importance of pure, chemical-free food and the harmful effects of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Tyagi reached Jammu today, where he was felicitated at the Press Club by senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta.
Tyagi said, “this journey is dedicated to every Indian who deserves clean, organic food. The increasing use of chemicals in agriculture is harming our health, degrading soil quality and affecting future generations. If we want to protect our health and our land, we must return to organic and traditional farming methods.”
He emphasized that his mission is not only to encourage citizens to adopt organic food and reduce junk food consumption but also to inspire farmers to move away from chemical-based farming. “Throughout my journey, I am meeting farmers and urging them to embrace organic methods. This is not just about health – it’s about securing the future of our nation,” he added.
Tyagi’s padyatra will pass through several states, spreading messages of food purity, environmental responsibility and mindful consumption. His campaign envisions a healthier and more self-reliant India.
Lauding the initiative, Kavinder Gupta said, “a healthy India is the foundation of a prosperous India. We often talk about becoming a global economic power by 2047, but that cannot happen without ensuring the health of our citizens. Gaurav Tyagi’s padyatra is more than a journey – it’s a nationwide call for change.”
Gupta praised Tyagi’s efforts to revive traditional agricultural practices and promote awareness about the dangers of chemical farming. He noted that Tyagi’s mission aligns with national initiatives such as Natural Farming and POSHAN Abhiyaan, championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
