JAMMU, Aug 28: BJP Spokesperson, Gaurav Gupta today raised serious concern over the situation emerging after the recent floods in Jammu and emphasized the need for launching intensive disinfection drives in the affected areas.
In a press statement issued, he said that, apart from the destruction of property and livelihood, the unattended carcasses of animals have created a grave health hazard for the people.
Gupta cautioned that if these carcasses are not removed immediately and disposed of scientifically, they may contaminate drinking water sources and cause outbreaks of diseases such as cholera, typhoid and other life-threatening infections.
He appealed to the District Administration, JMC and Animal Husbandry Department to act on war footing by deploying dedicated teams for identification, removal and proper disposal of the dead animals through deep burial with lime or incineration.
Gupta urged the public to extend full cooperation to the authorities, maintain hygiene and promptly report such cases to prevent any epidemic-like situation.
Reiterating the commitment of PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah towards citizen welfare during calamities, Gupta assured that BJP J&K stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of Jammu and will fully support the administration in ensuring timely relief and preventive measures.
