JAMMU, Aug 11: Akhnoor Police busted a gang involved in selling SIM cards on fake and forged documents and arrested three persons.
As per police sources, few days back, an information through reliable sources was received at Police Station Akhnoor that some persons are involved in fraudulent selling of SIM cards by way of preparing false documents, forging and faking identity related papers and records and are dishonestly issuing SIM cards against one single photo to different persons with IDs. The POS vendors were knowingly selling such SIM cards fraudulently and with corrupt and criminal intentions.
Acting over the information, a case FIR Number 181/2022 under Sections 420, 465, 467, 468 and 471 IPC was registered at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation was set into motion.
During the course of investigation, a team from Police Station Akhnoor led by SHO Inspector Hilal Azhar and assisted by PSI Zulfiqar Choudhary obtained CAF and CDR of all such SIM and summoned various persons for questioning.
After questioning three vendors identified as Dheeraj Kumar alias Jagatar, son of Pritam Lal of Dhoun Chak Khour, Rajesh Kumar alias Sonu, son of Sobha Ram of village Garar Tehsil Khour District Jammu and Rohit Sharma alias Lucky, son of Romesh Sharma of Maira Tehsil Jourian District Jammu have been arrested for their involvement in issuing fake SIM cards to various persons within and outside UT of J&K.
The role of officials of Telecom companies and further investigation into the case is also going on.
The arrests were carried out under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial and SP Rural Sanjay Sharma.
