Martyrdom day of Gandhi observed

JAMMU, Jan 30:  Congress observed the martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi in a simple function held at PCC office, Shahidi Chowk, Jammu today.
President JKPCC Tariq Hameed Karra presided over the function and was  attended by working president Raman Bhalla. DCC president and former ministers Yogesh Sawhney, Ex-MLCs  Ved Mahajan (I/C HQ), Thakur Balbir Singh, Manmohan Singh and TS Tony (DDC Member) besides IYC Incharge for J&K Maan Singh,  frontal wings of PCC- DCC, Blocks, Wards and others.
Paying homage  to the Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his martyrdom, PCC chief said that Gandhi lived a life full of principles and led the freedom movement against a mighty ruler based on principles of Aahinsa, truthfulness and  ultimately achieved it. He believed more in practical implementation of his principles and philosophy in his day to day life and activities rather than only intellectual approach to all issues.
Karra said  that the philosophy of Gandhi is becoming more relevant with every passing day. The entire world tries to learn from his life and principles. His philosophy holds the key to peace and religious harmony in the world. He taught non-violence and tolerance to deal with all issues confronting the humanity.
Raman Bhalla said that the philosophy of Gandhi is relevant for all times to come and even more relevant today when an atmosphere of conflicts and violence prevails in different parts of the world. He said that Gandhi led the nation to freedom through non-violence against the mighty British rulers.
Prominent among those who attended the function included Kanta Bhan, Zahida Khan, Vimla Slathia, Praveen Akhtar, Satish Sharma, Amrit Bali, Vijay Sharma(Seva Dal), Inderjeet Kour, Sanjeev Sharma (Panda), Rajvir Singh, Varinder Manhas, Mohd. Iqbal Dar, Rajesh Sharma, Pawan Dev Singh, Latish Shara, Vijay Malhotra and others.
In a similar function held at Sunderbani, the Congress activists paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.
