JAMMU, Feb 1: Residents of Last Morh, Gandhi Nagar today staged a peaceful protest at Shiv Mandir against the illegal establishment of permanent roadside food kiosks in the Rehari Zone and the proposed construction of a common public toilet in a residential area.
Around 150 residents participated, expressing concerns over traffic congestion, encroachment of roads and footpaths, unhygienic conditions, and safety risks to women, children, and senior citizens.
They also opposed the proposed toilet near residential houses, citing sanitation and privacy issues.
MLA Vikram Randhawa visited the protest site around 12 noon, heard the grievances of the residents, and assured them that the kiosks would be relocated to a suitable place and that no common public toilet would be allowed in residential areas.
Residents urged the authorities to take immediate action on their grievances.
