JAMMU, Apr 19: The General Administration Department (GAD) has written to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) J&K seeking permission from the Election Commission of India for grant of four percent Dearness Allowance (DA) to the Government employees and pensioners with effect from January 1, 2024.

A communication to this effect has been sent by the GAD to the CEO J&K for taking up matter with the Election Commission of India for according permission to revise rates of the DA from 46 percent to 50 percent in view of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) imposed due to ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
As per the communication, the basic pay of employees per month is about Rs 1306 crore and with proposed increase of 4 percent DA, the monthly basic pay will go up by Rs 53.24 crore.
Annual financial implication with the enhancement of DA by 4 percent will be Rs 626.88 crore.
