Srinagar, May 10: The Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers Cum Dealers Union today urged wholesale and retail fruit and vegetable dealers to moderate prices and ensure the availability of these items at affordable rates.
The Union, an elected umbrella body representing all Fruit and Vegetable Growers Associations in the Valley, made the appeal in light of the current situation, emphasizing a sense of responsibility and duty.
“Fruits and vegetables may be made available to the general public at reasonable and affordable prices on humanitarian grounds,” the Union stated.
It further noted that fruits and vegetables are essential for daily consumption, and urged dealers to regulate prices accordingly.
“Make efforts to sell them at discounted prices and restore the supply chain so that the common people are not deprived of essentials and hoarders do not exploit the situation,” it said.
The appeal was also echoed by the management of the New Kashmir Fruit Association, Fruit Marketing Complex, Parimpora, through its President, Bashir Ahmad Basheer.
The Union emphasized the need to come together as a nation to ensure that fruits and vegetables reach the public at reasonable, discounted prices during this time.
“Dealers of other essential commodities are also requested to act with equal responsibility and strive to sell these items at the most reasonable prices on humanitarian grounds,” it urged.
