Freight rates slip on excess position of trucks

NEW DELHI, Aug 13:  Freight rates for nine-tonne pay load section declined by Rs 1,000 in the local truck transport today following excess positions of trucks amid restricted cargo movements.

Transporters said heavy availability of trucks in the market as compared to cargo movements mainly pulled down freight rates.

Delhi to Vijayawada, Bengaluru, Chennai and Mysore rates dropped by Rs 1000 each to Rs 59,000, Rs 65,000, Rs 68,000 and Rs 69,000.

Similarly, rates to Coimbatore, Goa, Kolkata and Surat also went down by Rs 74,000, Rs 55,000, Rs 33,000 and Rs 26,000.
