LEH, Sept 7: Global Dental Relief USA with the support of local NGO Lions Clubs International organized free dental camps for students, here.
The camps have been organizing in Leh since 2001 by a professional team headed by Dentist Dr Mark Lisagor, who is having 40 of dentist experience.
During the ongoing camps, daily 1000 students from various schools are being inspected for various dental care issues such as filling, cleaning and extraction in few cases are taken care by the team of highly professional 15 member team from USA.
The well organized camps team members were assigned different task to each members starting with one member doing registration process followed by hygienist preparing the student for the treatment, treatment as per requirement, then educating the student how to maintain healthy teeth and finally keeping the computerized tract record of the student.
Interacting with media team, member Dr Mark Lisagor said that such annual camps are being conducted every year and during such camps nearly 1000 children from various schools including monasteries are treated free of cost.
Dr Mark also informed that they make sure to revisit the same school every two years to see the condition of children and most of them were found with improvement state. He also added that during the camps children were given comprehensive education about how to brush their teeth regularly besides, giving tips for maintaining healthy.
Dr Mark added that with the help of volunteer doctors such camps are conducted in Nepal, India (Ladakh), Guatemala, Kenya and Cambodia.
Lions Club member David Sonam said that they tried their best to reach out all the schools including children from Lingshed Monastery Hostel.
He hoped that during the camps, nearly 1000 students are expected to cover this year and added that they keep records of all students for future course of treatment.
