Free cataract camp at SDH Akhnoor

JAMMU, Apr 10: In its endeavour to make Akhnoor ‘cataract free zone’, Viklang Chhatra Trust Old Care Society is organizing a camp for free cataract surgery with intra-ocular lens at SD Hospital, Akhnoor.
The three-day camp is being organized in collaboration with Health Department and Jammu District Blindness Control Society, and it was inaugurated today by Chief Medical Officer. Over 200 eye patients from remote areas of Akhnoor Sub Division attended the camp on first day. They were checked up by qualified ophthalmologists.
On first day of the camp, 40 eye patients were selected for surgery. Dr Ghanshyam Singh and Dr Kamal, senior Eye Surgeons of Health Department, along with senior Opthalmic assistant, Ashok Sharma, are rendering their voluntary services in the camp.
Free Intra-Ocular lenses, medicines, spectacles and eye drops are being provided free of cost by the organizers for the cataract patients undergoing surgery in the camp. Besides, free lodging and boarding is also being provided.
