Free BMD camp organized at SVMM Charitable Hospital

JAMMU, Oct 14: A free Bone Mineral Density (BMD) camp was organized at Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission (SVMM) Charitable Hospital, Amphalla (Jammu), in collaboration with Torrent Pharmaceuticals.
The Camp was aimed at promoting bone health awareness and providing free BMD testing to the public as part of the Hospital’s ongoing commitment to community service and preventive healthcare.
The event was graced by Amar Chand Gupta, senior vice president; B B Gupta, general secretary; and Mohan Singh Chouhan, treasurer of the management committee, along with Dr Arvind Kohli, Medical Director of the Hospital; Dr Rabinder Rattanpal, Medical Superintendent; Dr Yashpal Karsyal; and Iqbal Deep Singh, Manager.
The camp was conducted under the supervision of senior orthopaedic consultants, Dr Rajesh Gandotra and Dr Sham Jurangal, who guided and evaluated patients through bone density assessments and provided expert consultation on preventive measures for maintaining healthy bones.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Arvind Kohli said, “At SVMM Charitable Hospital, our goal is to promote preventive healthcare through community outreach. This free BMD camp reflects our continued commitment to early detection and awareness of bone health issues among people of all age groups’.
Dr Rabinder Rattanpal added, “Bone health is often neglected until late stages. Through such camps, we aim to educate the public about the importance of screening and lifestyle modifications to prevent osteoporosis and related conditions’.
Dr Rajesh Gandotra stated, “Bone Mineral Density testing helps identify early signs of bone weakness. Timely evaluation and proper treatment can significantly reduce the risk of fractures and improve quality of life.”
Dr Sham Jurangal emphasized, “Regular bone health check-ups are vital, especially for elderly individuals and women post-menopause. Awareness and preventive care are key to maintaining mobility and independence in later life.”
