Four notorious criminals arrested

JAMMU, Jan 16: In a major success, Nowabad police arrested four notorious criminals from Kashmir who had been evading arrest for the past several years.
The accused, involved in 43 cases of vehicle lifting, cattle theft, kidnapping, rape, and cheating across districts like Srinagar, Budgam, Baramulla, Sopore, Kulgam, Ganderbal, Bandipora, and Jammu, had multiple non-bailable warrants issued against them by various courts.
During a patrol, police received information about suspicious individuals roaming in the Chand Nagar area. Acting swiftly, a team from Police Station Nowabad, led by PSI Aziz Tariq and Head Constable Jehangir Khan, apprehended the suspects.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Altaf Ahmed, son of Abdul Wahab, a resident of Gantamulla, Baramulla; Parvez Ahmed, son of Mohd Ali, a resident of Hawal Kani Deva, Sheeri, Baramulla; Adil Ahmed, son of Mohd Imran Shah, a resident of Shalteng, Srinagar; and Mohd Latief Pathan, son of Mohd Ali Pathan, a resident of Mujpathri, Khansahib, Budgam.
During questioning, the accused admitted their involvement in over 40 criminal cases registered at police stations in Uri, Boniyar, Sheeri, Baramulla, Dangi Wachi, Kral Khud, Qazigund, Kulgam, Ganderbal, Bandipora, and Parimpora. They also confessed to recently kidnapping a minor girl from the Qamarwari area, for which an FIR had been lodged under relevant sections at Police Station Parimpora. The minor girl was recovered from their possession and safely rescued.
After completing the necessary legal formalities, the accused were handed over to Srinagar police for further legal proceedings. The arrests and rescue were made under the supervision of Inspector Deepak Pathania, SHO Nowabad, DSP Headquarters Jammu, and SP City North Jammu.
