JAMMU, Feb 20: Police claimed today they have registered two separate cases under the NDPS Act at Police Station Gangyal and arrested four persons, including a woman, during the last 24 hours.
A police official said around 30 grams of heroin, commonly known as “chitta”, along with a weighing machine were recovered from the arrested persons.
In the first case, he said, FIR number 23/2026 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act was registered after two persons, identified as Mohammad Saber of Gujjar Basti Sunjwan, and Hanifa Begum of Rakh Barothian, Samba, were arrested with about 14 grams of heroin-like substance.
In another case, he said, FIR number 24/2026 under sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act was registered after two individuals, Satpaul Singh of Sainik Colony, Jammu, and Shubham Choudhary of Chumbian Jatta Bishnah, were arrested with around 15 to 18 grams of heroin-like substance.
The police official said that a total of approximately 30 grams of heroin has been seized in both cases.
Meanwhile, further investigation in both cases is underway.
The police official added that during the past 2 months, 6 FIRs under the NDPS Act have been registered at Police Station Gangyal, reflecting sustained action against drug peddlers.
The arrests and seizures were made by teams of Police Station Gangyal led by SHO concerned, under the supervision of SP Jammu South, Ajay Sharma and overall guidance of SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh Thakur.
