JAMMU, Apr 24: Jammu and Kashmir Police in RS Pura area have cracked a motorcycle theft case by arresting four persons and recovering a stolen bike along with a large quantity of engine parts and other vehicle accessories from their possession.
A police official said on April 21, a resident of Chohala lodged a written complaint with Police Station RS Pura, stating therein that his motorcycle was stolen on March 24 while it was parked outside the tehsil complex.
On this, he said, a case FIR number 77/2025 under section 303(2) of BNS was registered at Police Station RS Pura and further investigation taken up.
He said, a special police team, using technical assistance and human intelligence, apprehended a suspect identified as Pawan Kumar of Bagga Channa for questioning.
During sustained questioning, the suspect admitted to the theft and accordingly police recovered the stolen motorcycle from his possession.
Further investigation and targeted raids at various locations led to the seizure of a large number of engine components, disassembled vehicle parts, and accessories suspected to be stolen, he said.
“These items are believed to be linked to multiple recent thefts in the area,” the police official said.
Three more individuals were arrested in connection with the case, he said.
Police are now working to identify the owners of the recovered items and further investigations are ongoing.
