Four held for impersonating pony carriers on SMVD track

REASI, Aug 13: Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested four persons for illegally operating as pony carriers on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi track by impersonating genuine license holders.
The arrests were made during intensified patrolling and checking in the Ban Ganga area as part of heightened security measures ahead of Independence Day.
Officials said Kalu Ram and Mohammad Amin of Jammu, Vinod Kumar of Udhampur, and Subash Singh of Reasi were found using pony cards issued to other individuals.
They said the verification revealed mismatched photographs and forged identification.
According to them, separate FIRs under relevant sections have been registered at Police Station Katra, and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police have appealed to all pony operators and service providers on the SMVD track to follow the rules, carry valid identification, and warned that strict action will be taken against violators.
