JAMMU, May 23: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) today inaugurated four-day music festival “Poungar” here at KL Saigal Hall.
VK Sambyal, Station Director, Radio Kashmir, Jammu was the chief guest while Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL, was also present in the presidium.
While speaking on the occasion, VK Sambyal applauded the role of the JKAACL in promoting the art, literature and culture of the State particularly focusing the new generation who is considered the future of the Nation and custodians of the art, culture and literature of the region of the respective languages and cultures.
Earlier highlighting the aims and objectives, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, said that in this era of globalization, the association of the new generation with their respective art/culture is effected and to keep them intact, JKAACL had started this programme last year where in the young/budding artists are given Academy platform to their direct involvement with Indian and regional music.
He further informed that tomorrow there will be folk and sufiana music, on 25th classical music and on concluding day i.e. on May 25 there will be instrumental performances.
The programme was started with lighting of traditional lamp by the chief guest and other dignitaries present on the occasion.
KR Shantanu presented Hindi Gazal ‘Abke Shikwa na Shikayat Karna’, Sameesksha presented Dogri song ‘Nikre Fangru Uchi Udan’, Sunil Kumar presented ‘Log Kehte Hai Ajnabi Tum Ho’, Satzin Edges presented Dogri song ‘Chetein De Badloo’ and Disksha Nargotra presented Hindi song ‘Gulshan Ki Baharo Mein Rangeen Nazaro Mein’ Hindi. They were accompanied by Chandan Kumar on Sinth, Sahil Jasotra on Tabla and Rakesh Anand on Flute.
Anil Tickoo, Assistant Cultural Officer of the Academy conducted the proceedings of the propramme and presented formal vote of thanks.
