JAMMU, Oct 7: Akhnoor police have rescued four bovine animals and arrested a smuggler.
A police team from Police Post Chowki Choura intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle (registration number JK02BN-7877) at Chowki Choura naka and rescued four bovines that were being smuggled.
The driver, identified as Jahangir Hussain, son of Feroz Din, resident of Janyar, Poonch, was arrested on the spot. The vehicle used in the illegal transportation was also seized.
In this connection, FIR Number 189/2025 under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act has been registered at Police Station Akhnoor, and further investigation is underway.
