JAMMU, May 6: All J&K 1947 POJK Sharnarthi Intellectual Forum has expressed serious concern over the hike in the prices of fruits, vegetables and other items and the failure of the Government to control the prices.
Forum convened a meeting of its Core Committee members through video conferencing under the chairmanship of Amrik Singh and joined by S. Surjit Singh general secretary of Forum and others and flayed the BJP Government and Administration for its failure to keep check on price hike of essentials. They said the bookers and other big traders involved in hoarding are creating trouble for the general public.
It has been observed that for the past some time during lockdown not only exorbitant prices were being charged for vegetables and fruits but even some sort of scarcity too of certain items was artificially being created. The Forum point out that Market Administration Committee constituted to check over this menace is deeply sleeping over the issue, whereas, Horticulture, CAPD and allied agencies were not performing its job properly.
The Forum further pointed out that exorbitant rates are being charged by the Mandi people and the general public has been left to suffer. Mini Mandis be developed and fruits and vegetables must reach there directly bypassing brokers and big hoarders/ traders. The process be expedited for this exercise, the Forum added.
The meeting was also attended by Kuldeep Singh, Inder Singh Soodan, Jagjit Singh, Nasib Singh, Prof K D Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Capt (Retd) HS Sudan and Khazan Singh.
