Former US Marine Corps officer says Ukraine losing some territories was inevitable

WASHINGTON, Aug 12: Ukraine was bound to lose some territories, and rather than worrying about that, its president Volodymyr Zelensky ought to be more concerned about his future, ex-United Nations Special Commission (UNSCOM) weapons inspector Scott Ritter has said, while commenting on the upcoming summit between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
As per Russian state media TASS, Ritter said “It’s inevitable that the Russian territory will be Russian. All the territories that Russia took control of through the referendums of September 2022 – Kherson, Zaporozhye, Donetsk and Lugansk – they are part of Russia constitutionally.”
“There’s nothing Zelensky can do to change this outcome,” he added.
He further proceeded to mock the Ukrainian President, stating that a good leader would be able to recognise certain political realities, which Zelensky has not been able to.
“So, a good leader of Ukraine would recognise this reality, and make the appropriate decisions. Zelensky is not a good leader of Ukraine,” he said. (UNI)
