Former bureaucrat Farooq Shah joins NC, to contest election from Gulmarg

SRINAGAR, Feb 25: Former bureaucrat Farooq Ahmad Shah today joined National Conference along with his supporters in the presence of party’s president Dr Farooq Abdullah and vice president Omar Abdullah.
Welcoming Shah into the party fold, Dr Farooq said, “the party will definitely benefit from the experience of Farooq Shah in public life. His acumen for administration will benefit the party,” adding, “I am hopeful that Farooq Shah will make the party stronger at grass roots.”
Vice president Omar Abdullah while welcoming Farooq Shah into the party-fold said, “Farooq Shah had a celebrated career. He has always lent helping hand to needy and poor. I am sure he will continue to work for the cause of poor masses from the party platform”.
On the occasion, Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah announced that Farooq Shah will contest Assembly elections on the party ticket from Gulmarg and if the National Conference forms the Government Farooq Shah would be a Cabinet Minister.
On the occasion, Farooq Shah vowed to take forward the mission of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah. “I will work alongside the party’s rank and file in ensuring that the party’s flag flies high,” he said.
Shah was holding post of Secretary Public Health Engineering, Irrigation and flood Control with additional charge of Administrative Secretary, Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction and had applied for voluntary retirement from service before joining NC.
Belonging to village Hardushoora in Kunzer tehsil of Tangmarg in Baramulla district, Farooq Shah worked at many prestigious posts in J&K Government earning him a huge fame and acknowledgment both in the administrative and public circles.
From Deputy Commissioner Excise and Taxation to the Secretary PHE, I&FC Shah had been an outstanding officer bringing the departments under his control to the top positions in terms of performance and public acknowledgement.
