While patwaris and VLWs in pay level 4 work only during daylight hours within village boundaries and face minimal risk, forest guards confront smugglers, poachers, land grabbers, forest fires, and illegal logging activities without support. They patrol the hills day and night, often on foot, yet they lack basic amenities.
