MENDHAR, Jan 12: A forest fire along the Line of Control (LoC) triggered multiple mine blasts in the forward Boosani area of the Balakote sector in Mendhar sub-division of Poonch, causing panic in the border belt.
Officials said the fire spread into a mined zone, leading to explosions of old landmines. No casualties have been reported in the incident. Security forces have been put on high alert, and the situation is being closely monitored to prevent any further escalation.
Efforts are underway to assess the damage and ensure the safety of residents in nearby areas, officials added.
