DODA, May 10: Forest Department has retrieved 300 kanals of encroached land in Compartment Number 85/SJ of Siraj Range in Doda Forest Division.
As per reports, an information was received in Range Office Siraj regarding encroachment in Compartment Number 85/SJ.
Acting on the information, a team of territorial and Forest Protection Force (FPF) was constituted to remove encroachment.
A total of 300 kanals was retrieved from land grabbers by Forest Department despite resistance from the locals.
The forest team also removed wooden/PCC poles along with brushwood that were erected by the encroachers.
The operation was carried out by the Range Officer Siraj Adil Shan under the supervision of Divisional Forest Officer Doda Navneet Singh.
“Forest Department staff was deployed to evict the encroached land, but during the course of action, the team headed by Range Officer Siraj was assaulted by the locals”, DFO Doda Navneet Singh said, adding that the persons, who were involved in attacking the team will be booked under law.
He appealed to the locals to ensure that no damage to forest is being caused during the period of lockdown.
