Srinagar, Nov 30: Day after it came to fore that smugglers have wreaked havoc in Rafiabad woods of Baramulla district, Forest Department today constituted a team and sent it to the affected compartments.
At least 500 trees have been cut down in Kiter Dagi and Mund Dagi forest ranges during past four months of unrest. Chief Conservator, Nisar Ahmad, said the team went to the affected areas and it has yet to submit its report.
He said that the concerned Conservator has been shifted out “as he in nearing his retirement”. Earlier there were reports that the concerned Conservator has been attached but the top official negated such reports.
