SRINAGAR, Sept 22: The Inter-Hostel Football Tournament (Men) at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar culminated with great enthusiasm and competitive spirit. Organized by the Students Activity & Sports (SAS) Centre, the event featured 8 hostel teams vying for the title.
In a thrilling final match, the 2nd-year team emerged victorious by defeating the 3rd-year team by 1-0. The winning goal was scored in the second half by Yameen Gatto, sealing the championship.
The tournament was inaugurated by Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Mohammad Abid Bazaz, who emphasized the role of sports in fostering unity and holistic development.
Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, praised the participants for their talent and discipline, stating such events play a vital role in student growth. Registrar, Prof. Atikur Rehman, and I/c Faculty SAS, Dr. Manoj Kumar, also congratulated the teams and highlighted the importance of sports in character building.
SAS Officer Kowsar Ali Mir announced that more inter-hostel tournaments are planned in the coming months to promote student engagement and physical fitness. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where winners were felicitated with trophies and medals.
