POONCH, Nov 8: Food Safety Organisation (J&K) has banned selling of `Babu G’ and `Kartar’ brands of Desi Ghee after some of its batches were found sub-standard.
Official sources said that Assistant Commissioner Food Safety, Poonch lifted the samples of the Desi Ghee `Babu G’ having batch No, JMA-06 Pkd on 13/06/2025 and Desi Ghee `Kartar’ having batch No. K0024 pkd 01/04/2025, along with other Food Safety officers recently and sent to Public Health Lab Srinagar for analysis.
The Public Analyst PHL Srinagar declared both the samples as `Sub Standard’ under the Provisions of Food Safety and Standards Act 2006.
Therefore, in the view of this development, the Food Safety Organisation J&K, an order issued here today said that in the interest of the public health and safety, all the dealers/ traders/ shopkeepers are prohibited from storing, selling or distributing these products in the said jurisdiction.
The Commissioner Food Safety also advised/ warned the general public not to purchase or consume these banned products of Desi Ghee till further orders. He warned of strict action in case of violation of the orders.
