This has reference to the advertisement ‘Seminar on state mission on food processing’ DE April 13.
The organisers deserve kudos for organising such kind of seminar.
The seminar is relevant to J&K State which has great potential for this industry.
The food processing industry has not taken off well in this State despite the State having much potential for it.
Jammu and Kashmir is divided into three provinces-each province having its own rich cuisine culture. If Kashmir is famous for its Wazwan, so is Jammu for its Dogra dishes.
Ladakh too has distinguished itself for its local cuisine. Besides, the State is rich in horticulture products. The potential in this sector too has remained unexplored.
The organisers should now explore the all areas where food processing is possible. Frame a policy and guidelines for entrepreneurs and way Government can help them.
Keeping the market trends in view, the State food processing industry has great scope to expend.
There is urgent need to launch awareness drive among people in the State. This industry can generate a lot of jobs for the educated youth of the State.
