Srinagar, May 3: Renowned Physicist and Padma Shree awardee Prof. H.C. Verma today urged students to prioritize learning over exam scores.
He was speaking at the International Islamic School here during a special session held in collaboration with the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) to promote experiential learning in science.
The event featured ‘Physics Mashal Yatra’, an outreach initiative led by Prof. Verma that includes hands-on demonstrations, teacher training, and student engagement, with a focus on practical science education in Jammu and Kashmir.
“True learning happens when you’re not afraid of failing,” Prof. Verma told students in his keynote address.
Sharing his personal struggles with early education, he urged them to prioritize understanding over exam scores.
“High marks without understanding mean little; learning without marks still holds immense value.”
The session was attended by education leaders including Dr. G.N. Var, president of the Private Schools Association of J&K, who called the event “a transformative step” for science education in the region.
A felicitation ceremony followed, honoring Class 10 JKBOSE toppers, including Qareeha Wani, Anam Bilal, Zohra Shah, Ariya Bhat, Namiya Sajad, Tooba Nabi, and Asmar Parviz. All scored above 490 marks.
