JAMMU, Nov 13: The victims of recent floods triggered by incessant rains here today staged a protest demonstration and demanded compensation for the losses suffered by them.
The protest was led by social activist, Jayesh Gupta.
While addressing the protesters, Gupta said that irregularities were there in the distribution of compensation to the flood victims.
“Those who suffered minor losses in the floods were heavily compensated while those who suffered massive losses of properties were not even given a penny,” he claimed urging the district administration to look into the issue.
The victims of the flood narrated their woes and said that they have lost everything like shelter, clothes and all other household belongings in the deluge.
The protesters were holding placards with their demands and they were raising slogans in favour of their demands.
They said that if their demands were not met soon then they will intensify their protest.
