JAMMU, Sept 5: Jhajjar Kotli police arrested five inter-state narcotic smugglers alongwith 53 kilograms of poppy straw (bhukki) near Suketar, Domail.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team from Jhajjar Kotli police station laid a naka at Suketar, Domail and signaled a Xylo car bearing registration number JK14B-5696 to stop.
On seeing police team, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle.
During search, police recovered 53 kilograms of poppy straw (bhukki) from the vehicle and arrested five inter-state narcotic smugglers.
The accused have been identified as driver Parshottam Lal, son of Girdari Lal of Domana, Amarjeet Singh, son of Mohan Singh, Bhuta Singh, son of Sohan Singh and Dilwara Singh, son of Paul Singh, trio residents of Ludhiana and Biant Singh, son of Gured Singh, a resident of Rajasthan.
A case under FIR Number 101/15 under Section 8/15 narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Jhajjar Kotli police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Jhajjar Kotli police station Inspector Ravinder Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma and Incharge SSP Jammu Rajiv Pandey.
