UDHAMPUR, Feb 11: In separate incidents, Udhampur Police arrested five drug peddlers and recovered 24.21 grams heroin from their possession.
A Police team of PS Rehambal, while conducting vehicle checking, intercepted a vehicle in which one drug peddler was travelling. The person disclosed his identity as Momin Hussain, son of Mohd Asgar Sofi, resident of Pattan, Baramulla.
On his personal search, 10.48 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession. Accordingly, FIR No. 34/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at P/S Rehambal and investigation is underway.
In second case, a police party noticed a suspicious person coming from Phalata towards Garhi. On seeing the police vehicle, the person tried to turn back but was intercepted. He disclosed his identity as Ashwani Sharma son of Kewal Krishan Sharma of Jib Majalta, Udhampur. During his personal search, 03 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession.
A police team of Police Post Roun Domail, while performing patrolling duty near Balay Bridge, Roun Domail, noticed one suspicious person coming from Udhampur towards Roun Domail. Upon questioning, he disclosed his identity as Rahul Kumar son of Singh Dass of Nallah Ghouran, Tehsil Ramnagar, A/P Jojran Talab, Udhampur During personal search, 5.75 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession following which he was arrested on the spot.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 44/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur, and further investigation is underway.
A police team of Police Station Udhampur, while performing patrolling duty near Subash Stadium Udhampur, noticed two suspicious persons coming from Bharat Nagar Cut, NH-44 towards TCP Domail.
Upon questioning, they disclosed their identities as Shamsher Singh, son of Shubdev Singh of Chang, Samba and Aditya Kumar son of Vijay Kumar of Jourian, Jammu.
During personal search, 4.41 grams of heroin was recovered from the possession of Shamsher Singh while 1.57 grams of heroin was recovered from Aditya Kumar. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 43/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and both the accused were arrested.
