Five-day Natya Utsav from Feb 17

JAMMU, Feb 13: Natya Utsav – a five-day theatrical treat dedicated to the legendary iconic figure of the State, late Kavi Rattan Sharma, is starting from February 17.
Talking to the media, Theatre Director, Mushtaq Kak said five plays, including Mohan Rakesh’s ‘Aadhe Adhurea’, Tagore’s ‘Dak Ghar adaptation in Dogri’, N D Jamwal’s ‘Kunju Chanchlo’, Rakesh Roshan Bhat’s ‘Mujrim Main Nahi, Par Main Hi Hun’, and Manav Koul’s ‘Bali Aur Shambhu’.
He said that the festival will be held from February 17 to 21 at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu daily at 5.30 PM. He further informed that Khalid Hussain, former DC Jammu, Ravinder Kaul (art critic) and senior artists Pritam Katoch, Madan Rangila and Romesh Chander are members of Festival Advisory Committee while Romesh Chander is coordinating the entire festival.
Born in 1940, in the family of Pandit Raghunath Shastri, a talented playwright, actor, director and a 1965 post-graduate in English, poet Rattan was awarded first scholarship for theatre by J&K Cultural Academy to undergo training in theatre direction at National School of Drama, Delhi.
