UDHAMPUR, Dec 16: A five-day training course on “Investigation of Cyber Crime”, sponsored by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Ministry of Home Affairs, commenced today at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), Udhampur.
A statement said the course is being attended by 28 police officers of the J&K Police, ranging from the rank of Sub-Inspector to Senior Superintendent of Police.
It said the programme aimed at enhancing the professional skills and technical knowledge of investigating officers in handling cybercrime and cyber fraud cases.
“During the training, participants will be familiarized with emerging trends in cybercrime, relevant legal provisions, and effective counter-measures. The course will also provide hands-on training in cyber forensics, digital evidence handling, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cybercrime investigation,” the statement said.
Chief Guest during the inaugural function, Rajinder Kumar Gupta, Deputy Director (Indoor Trainings), SKPA Udhampur, welcomed the participants and underlines the importance of specialized training to meet the growing challenges of cybercrime.
The Deputy Director highlighted various forms of cyber offences, including cyber bullying, cyber stalking, online job frauds, phishing, malware attacks, cyber-squatting, crypto-jacking, and other technology-driven crimes.
He stressed that the rapid growth of the digital ecosystem has posed new challenges for law enforcement agencies, making such training programmes essential.
“The course aims to strengthen the capacity of the J&K Police to prevent, detect, and investigate cybercrime effectively, thereby boosting public confidence in digital policing,” he said.
The programme is being coordinated by Inspector Vivek Kalsotra, with assistance from Head Constable Sanjay Kumar, faculty members of SKPA.
