JAMMU, Nov 22: The five-day free cataract surgery camp organised by Tawi Welfare Society in collaboration with the Health Department concluded today.
The camp, which screened 184 patients, witnessed 33 successful surgeries.
MLA Surinder Kumar Bhagat was chief guest at the concluding ceremony and he lauded the efforts of Tawi Welfare Society volunteers for their dedication and commitment in organising a well-managed camp for the needy. He assured his full support to the Society for all future endeavours.
Dr. Hamid Zargar, Director Health Services, Dr. Narinder Singh Bhatial, Medical Superintendent and the team of doctors from the Eye Department, Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, made the camp a success. The team, led by Dr. Jyoti Katoch, HOD, comprising Dr. Promila, Dr. Bharti Sarangal, Dr. Indu V. Shree, Dr. Aneesa Sambyal, along with Subhash Singh Manhas, Om Parkash and the entire paramedical staff, worked tirelessly to ensure the camp’s success.
The Society hailed Dr. Vijay Sharma, BMO and the paramedical staff of CHC Sohanjana, as well as Dr. Naresh Gupta (Retd.), for their contributions.
Several dignitaries visited the camp during the five days and they included Athira Jamwal, Tehsildar Mandal, Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Block Development Officer Mandal Phallain, Madam Tanvi Gupta, CDPO Satwari, Dinesh Gupta, Secretary, Old-age Home Ambphala, Sunil Singh, Deputy Director Floriculture Department, and Tripta Manyal, Principal (Retd.) among others.
Nand Kishore, senior member of the Society extended vote of thanks. Earlier, Yash Paul Mangotra, general secretary, delivered welcome address.
