SRINAGAR, Nov 16: The HELP Foundation (Human Effort for Love and Peace) today inaugurated the first-ever seashell & colour exhibition at Baitul Miraas in Alikadal, Downtown Srinagar, attracting artists, students and nature lovers from across the city.
The exhibition features a rare and exquisite collection of seashells and corals, offering visitors-particularly students-a glimpse into the rich diversity and natural artistry of marine life.
Organisers said the display aims to introduce audiences to the beauty of ocean species while encouraging appreciation for nature’s creativity and environmental conservation.
In her inaugural address, HELP Foundation Chairperson Nighat Shafi Pandit highlighted the importance of reconnecting with nature and preserving biodiversity.
She praised the organisers for curating an event that blends education, art and ecological awareness.
She said the initiative would inspire eco-friendly creativity, support local craftsmanship and promote understanding of fragile ecosystems.
Pandit added that Baitul Miraas itself is an effort by the HELP Foundation to make the younger generation aware of their culture and heritage. The computer lab at the centre, she noted, has been set up to support tech-savvy students.
Resource person and amateur seashell collector Robin Koul, who has gathered more than six hundred unique seashells over the last two decades, said the exhibition celebrates the harmony between nature and art.
He said the event helps visitors learn about various seashell species, their ecological value and cultural significance, while also promoting environmental responsibility and offering a peaceful, visually engaging experience.
