JAMMU, Apr 25: In a major step against organised crime, Police in Jammu’s Miran Sahib area have filed a charge sheet against two notorious gangsters under the newly introduced organised crime provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
As per a police official, this was the first case in Jammu district to be investigated and charge sheeted under Section 111 of the BNS.
The charge sheet was filed in connection with FIR number 17 of 2025, registered at Police Station Miran Sahib, he said.
The police official further said that the case was investigated by PSI Ajesh Jamwal under the supervision of SHO Jai Paul Sharma, SDPO RS Pura and SP Headquarters Jammu.
The two accused have been identified as Paramjeet Singh alias Jungi of Draptey, and Arjun Kumar alias Billa of Salehar Kothey, presently living in Kalyana, Tehsil Arnia.
According to the police official, Paramjeet is a habitual offender with 10 cases registered against him, while Arjun is involved in six criminal cases across different areas.
The duo has been charge sheeted under Sections 109, 111, and 132 of the BNS, as well as under Sections 3, 5, 25, and 27 of the Arms Act, he said.
“Section 3(5) of BNS (organised crime) has also been invoked to address their involvement in organised criminal activity,” added the police official.
