SRINAGAR, Dec 2: A massive fire gutted a three-story residential house in the Khankah Bagh area of Pampore in Pulwama district today, leaving a family homeless within minutes.
According to eyewitnesses, the blaze erupted at around 4 am and spread rapidly through the house before the residents could salvage their belongings. Neighbours rushed out after spotting flames shooting up from the structure. Fire and emergency services teams reached the spot and managed to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to adjacent houses, but the building had already suffered extensive damage.
Officials who visited the spot have assessed the damage and recorded initial details of the losses. The family has appealed to the administration for immediate financial assistance, saying they have nowhere to go and need urgent support to rebuild their home.
No casualties were reported in the incident, and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
