SRINAGAR, Dec 10: A fire broke out at the MLA Hostel in Srinagar this morning, prompting a quick response from firefighters.
Officials said the fire erupted in one of the rooms on the first floor of the building and quickly spread to other parts. However, it was brought under control within a short time through strenuous efforts. “At 11:51 am, we received a call about the fire and responded immediately at 11:52 am. When we arrived, two to three rooms on the first floor were already engulfed and smoke had filled the entire area,” an official said.

He confirmed that the fire was contained without any loss of life but caused damage to some rooms in the building. “The cause of the fire is not immediately known, and investigations are underway,” he added.
