REASI, Feb 12: Going tough against illegal miners, Reasi Police seized some vehicles and arrested six persons, who were loading riverbed material from Anji Nallah, here late last night.
Acting on a tip off, a special team from Police station Reasi rushed to Anji Nallah where the illegal mining was taking place, despite being banned by the order of District Magistrate, Reasi.
Sensing trouble, some vehicle operators tried to flee from the spot, but police managed to arrest six of them, who are drivers and laborers of tippers and tractors. The arrested persons were identified as Anil Sharma alias Makhan of Suketer, Ashiq Ali of Kayala, Junaid Mohd of Dassanoo, Matbir Hussain of Dassanoo, Mohd Latif of Dassanoo and Mohd Haroon of Dassanoo.
In this regard, FIR number 31/19, Under Section 188 RPC was registered at Police Station Reasi and investigation has been set into motion.
The operation was carried out under the direct supervision of Dr Nikhil Gogna, DySP Hqrs Reasi, Shiv Kumar Chouhan, ASP Reasi and under the overall supervision of SSP Reasi, Nisha Nathyal.
