FICCI FLO-JKL to empower women students, foster entrepreneurship

JAMMU, Feb 4: Aiming to collaborate on key areas such as skilling, entrepreneurship promotion, health, wellness and women empowerment, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh (JKL) Chapter and Central University of Jammu (CUJ), here today.
The MoU was signed by Ruchika Gupta, Chairperson, FICCI-FLO JKL Chapter and Prof Yashwant Singh, Registrar, Central University of Jammu (CUJ), in the presence of the core team members of FICCI-FLO-JKL.
The collaboration will benefit from the guidance of Prof Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor of CUJ, who has emphasized the university’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of leaders and strengthening the workforce, particularly through the empowerment of female students.
Addressing the gathering, Prof Sanjeev Jain expressed his commitment to increasing female enrollment at CUJ, mentioning initiatives such as reserving one seat in each department for the Single Girl Child category and offering market-driven courses aimed at facilitating student placement.
Ruchika Gupta in her address highlighted FLO-JKL’s Young Women Affinity Group (YWAG) initiative, which engages women students in various empowerment activities.
“The initiative focuses on personal and professional growth, helping young women transition smoothly from academia to the corporate world, aligned with FLO’s mission of supporting women throughout their lives,” she said.
Prof Yashwant Singh shared his enthusiasm about the partnership, particularly regarding the joint initiatives that will strengthen entrepreneurship and the start-up ecosystem within the student community.
He lauded FLO-JKL’s efforts to prepare students for successful corporate careers.
The MoU will facilitate workshops, seminars and training sessions to enhance teaching methodologies, subject expertise, and entrepreneurial skill sets.
Among others who graced the event included Aarti Chowdhary, Sona Mehta, Nandita Bajaj and faculty members from School of Business Studies including Prof Jaya Bhasin, Dr Shahid Mushtaq and Dr Asif Ali.
