Srinagar, May 20: The enforcement wing of the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) today conducted a market checking in various parts of Srinagar city and fined 18 erring shopkeepers while sealing 4 others for overcharging.
In this regard, the officials said that the Enforcement squad under the leadership of Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Assistant Director, Enforcement conducted a market checking areas such as Kailashpora, Telbal, Shaheedgunj, Bemina, Hamdania Colony Bemina, SMHS Hospital Road, Iqbal Colony and Sonawar.
“During market checking 64 business establishments were inspected & a penal sum of Rs 12700/- has been collected as fine from 18 erring shopkeepers for violation of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955,” officials said.
They added that one vegetable shop and two mutton shops have been sealed for overcharging. “The erring lot has been reprimanded .”
