SAMBA, Aug 14: Father and son duo were killed in a tragic road accident near Jatwal on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway in Samba district this morning.

According to police at around 9:30 am, a truck hit a scooty on which duo were riding. They were on way from Jammu to Kathua and died on the spot. The bodies of both of them remained on the road for over one hour and people kept watching as mute spectators. The issue became a hot topic of discussion on social media throughout the day, and people also condemned it strongly.

After about one hour, the police and hospital ambulance came and both the bodies were picked up and brought to the district hospital Samba where their post-mortem was done and the bodies were handed over to the family members for the last rites. The police have seized the truck and started further action.
The deceased have been identified as Hanish Kumar Tak, son of Purshotam Kumar Tak and Purushottam Kumar Tak son of Kundan Lal Tak residents of Kali Jani Jammu. The truck driver fled from the spot after the incident. The police has launched search for the absconding driver and registered a case under relevant sections of law in this regard.
