SRINAGAR, Nov 20: Police today arrested a father and son in Handwara area of north Kashmir after breaking a narco terror module in Qalamabad area.
A police spokesperson said that a joint team of Handwara Police and CRPF 162 acted on specific intelligence about contraband and illegal weapons stored in the locality.
Police registered FIR 38 of 2025 at “Police Station Qalamabad under the NDPS Act, the UA(P) Act, and the Arms Act,” he said.
The police said that the arrested individuals are Shahnawaz Khan, 23, son of Abdul Lateef, and Abdul Lateef, 53, both residents of Puthwari, Nowgam, Handwara.
Investigators said the two operated a narco terror network in the area.
The team seized a pistol with seven live rounds, the police said, adding that they also recovered about 890 grams of heroin-like substance.
